Siscoseal
Sissons Siscoseal is a decorative wood stain based on a special resin and contains preservatives for the decoration and protection of all timber surfaces against rot and mould growth. It is water-resistant and will not crack, peel or blister upon exposure to the weather.
Surface
Sissons Siscoseal is a cost-effective system for timber houses where no primer or undercoat is required – two to three coats of Sissons Siscoseal will give long-lasting protection while enhancing the natural appearance of the wood. Its usage can also be extended to furniture, doors, parquet floors, fencing and other timber-based articles.
For best aesthetic effect and performance, Sissons Siscoseal should be applied to bare timber as the presence of any previous coating would inhibit the penetration and absorption of Sissons Siscoseal into the timber.
Adequate surface preparation should be carried out before application. Ensure surfaces to be painted are dry, clean and free from loose or peeling parts, grease, wax or other contaminants.
Surfaces should be smoothened by using a plane and/or sandpaper then dusted-off clean before paint application.
For previously coated timber, it is strongly recommended to completely remove the previous coating via chemical or mechanical means then treat as per new surface
NOTE: If chemical means was used, re-clean and ensure no traces of the chemical remain on the substrate before painting.
Timber Surface
Finish | 2 – 3 coats of Sissons Siscoseal |
When painting, adhere to the abovementioned recommended spreading rate as much as possible. Avoid applying too thick per coat as this may adversely affect the colour appearance and drying process. Several thin coats will always give a better result than a single thick coat.
Coverage
Theoretical Coverage | Up to 14.2 square meters per litre per coat |
Expected Practical Coverage Based on 25% Loss Factor |
Up to 10.7 square meters per litre per coat |
Actual spreading rate will vary due to factors such as method and condition of application e.g. surface profile, absorption or roughness.
