Vinyl Asbestocote

Sissons Vinyl Asbestocote is recommended for the protection and decoration of all concrete surfaces as well as asbestos, cement cladding or roofing where conditions demand better performance than that offered by conventional emulsion paints. It dries to produce an exceedingly tough, lightfast and durable film, yet remains sufficiently flexible to withstand the variation effects of climates and temperatures.

Adequate surface preparation should be carried out before application. All loose, flaking, chalking or friable materials should be removed. Make good any defects and ensure that the substrate is clean and free from contaminants, such as oil, grease, grime and fungal growth.

For new surfaces, ensure that the substrate is sufficiently dry (below 16% moisture) prior to paint application.

For redecoration, ensure that the previous coating is in good condition, otherwise remove via water-jet and/or scraping then treat as per new surface.

New Surface or Redecoration

Finish 2 – 3 coats of Sissons Vinyl Asbestocote

Theoretical Coverage Up to 12.9 square meters per litre per coat
Expected Practical Coverage

Based on 25% Loss Factor

Up to 9.7 square meters per litre per coat

Actual spreading rate will vary due to factors such as method and condition of application e.g. surface profile or roughness.

Application Techniques

Brush, Roller, Conventional Spray

Brush / Roller For best performance, no dilution is recommended. However, the paint may be diluted with up to 10% of water for the first coat in order to assist application on highly porous or absorbent surfaces.
Conventional Spray Dilute with up to 20% of water depending on the substrate and required finishing.
